Whittier Wildflowers Preschool values the safety and well being of our students, staff and their families. Our health policies follow the guidance of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our public health consultant.

Plans for sick children, staff, and volunteers

If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. Your child will be excluded from preschool if they have the following. They may return to school 24 hours after symptoms have subsided, without medication. See specific Covid guidelines below.

  • Diarrhea

  • Fever (100 degrees or higher, taken under the arm)

  • Sore throat

  • Excessive cold symptoms

  • Contagious Diseases (i.e. strep throat, etc.)

Communication plan about sick children/staff:

  • Let us know by email, phone or Brightwheel message if your child is out sick.

  • WWP will communicate with families, staff, volunteers by Brightwheel messaging, email, text or phone call (their preferred method of communication) if someone in the group has tested positive for COVID-19 or any other communicable disease, and follow the recommendations of the MN Dept. of Health.

We will follow the quarantine and isolation guidelines from the CDC for Covid:

  • As of August 2022, the CDC is no longer advising the need for quarantining after exposure to COVID-19 for people in child care settings. But they do advise wearing a well-fitted mask for 10 days after exposure and being tested 5 days after the exposure.  If one develops symptoms, they should stay home and be tested.

  • Isolation guideline for those who have tested positive for COVID.

Immunization Policy

To help protect our beloved community we require our students to be be immunized according to the CDC recommendations for their age, or be on a catch-up /delayed schedule, or have a medical exemption.

At this time our staff and volunteers are required to be vaccinated for Covid-19. We highly encourage Covid-19 vaccines for the children, but they are not required.
